So, I'm watching Star Trek: TOS (one of the local channels here shows it every Sat. and Sun. night). It's the second part of "The Menagerie"...you know the episode where Roddenberry got so fucking lazy that he did a "clip show" episode, featuring scenes from a pilot episode that the network originally hated. Anyway, I'm watching as they're showing a scene where Capt. Pike is being punished for wrong thinking by being burned in some sort of hell and brimstone illusion. And the Talosian keeper says it was something from a fairy tale he heard in his childhood.
And I started thinking...exactly what kind of fucking fairy tales were his parents telling this poor kid where characters were being burned alive in a lake of fire? I mean, that's some pretty sadistic stuff for a fairy tale, isn't it? I don't ever remember reading "Hansel and Gretel in the Lake of Fire."

Deviantart prints
I am in the process of updating some of the images in my Deviantart gallery. I'm adding larger size images and enabling the prints option on a lot of my work. Did you know that you can get magnets with my artwork on them? I never really paid attention to the whole printing thing, but apparently you can get a lot of different items, like mugs, magnets, mousepads...even puzzles. Just think about it...you can get a puzzle made out of my artwork. They also do calendars. I wish I had known about that last year when I did one...it would have saved me a shitload of headaches.
Anyway, I'm also uploading the full sized versions of a lot of my "cropped sample" images there as well (at least, the ones that I can post on DA). I'm also adding the full size, full color versions of some of the B&W images. I'm enabling prints on those too...and going forward, any images I upload there will be the high rez stuff with prints enabled.
It's going slowly, so it may be a couple of days before I get everything uploaded. If you haven't taken a stroll through my DA gallery, now would be a good time: doc000.deviantart.com

I'm out
Well, maybe not COMPLETELY out...but, it's painfully obvious that nobody wants to pay to see my work...either through my galleries or by way of commissions.
So, I'm going to step away (a bit) from the "mature" artwork business. My Eroticillusions/Cybrotica galleries will be set to archive status, which basically means the artwork will still be there for anyone who wants to pay to see it, but there just won't be anymore regular updates. Oh, I'll still do that type of artwork and add new stuff to my galleries when I feel like it...just not on a regular basis. It just got to the point where I was spending every free moment I had making artwork for a gallery that no one was seeing. It just didn't make sense to waste all that time and effort for nothing. After watching really shitty artists make money with the snot they churn out...while I couldn't even get a sniff of attention with the work I did...I came to the conclusion that people seem to be morons for wanting to pay good money for bad artwork. So, I'm out.
To those of you who chose to support me over the years...thank you.
To those of you liked to leave shitty little comments like "why should I pay when there's plenty of free porn on the internet"...fuck you.
What does all this mean? Well, after I take some time to just enjoy life and catch up on all the stuff I've put off in favor of my artwork, I'll turn my attention to the types of artwork I want to do for fun...artwork I never seemed to have time for because I was expending all my effort on work for my galleries.
And, I'm still available for commissions or other projects...that won't change.

Of Hard Drives and Runtimes
Well, the external hd I use for my Poser runtime gave up the ghost this weekend and became a paperweight. Luckily, all my finished artwork and scene files are stored on another drive, so the only issue is having to re-install about 100 gig of content. I can't say I'm looking forward to it.
The upside is that I now have a nice new 1TB external HD for my stuff...4 times the space for about half the price I paid for the old hd. :)

I'm tired of these motherf***ing snakes!
I don't know what it is...whether there's something in the water or if Mother Nature is just pissed...but the snakes seem to be taking over. I've killed 3 snakes in 4 days...2 copperheads (very poisonous) and a giantic rat snake (not as poisonous, but no less creepy). And I'm not talking about running across them while walking in the woods or something like that. I'm talking about these fuckers coming right up to the house and basically knocking on the door. Thank god my dog does a good job as an early warning system; whenever a snake comes within range of her radar, she goes into a barking fit and shows me right where they are.

Feeling sick...no updates this week
For most of this week, I dealt with massive headaches...which translated to me not really doing any work, as far as artwork is concerned. So, there will be no new images posted to my galleries this week. I basically used this week to just chill out and recharge the creative batteries.

I'm tired
I'm tired. Actually, I'm really, really tired.
I'm tired of trying. I've been at this art thing for about 6 years now, and I've seen practically no return on my investment of time and money. I'm tired of seeing lesser artists get praise and (more importantly) money. I'm tired of not being taking seriously because I happen to do "adult" art. I'm tired of busting my butt every week to produce the best artwork I can, only to watch it sit there in hidden obscurity.
I'm tired of it all. So, I'm going to give it until July, which marks my 3 year anniversary with Eroticillusions. If I don't see some sort of improvement, monetarily, by then...I'll just pack it in and call it quits.
So...there you go. I'm tired and fed up with it all. And if things don't improve, I'm done.

No power = no new images
Electricity is a wonderful, wonderful thing...but life sucks when you don't have it.
As I posted in my DA journal (http://doc000.deviantart.com/journal/), I was without power from Sunday night to Wednesday night. I then spent Thursday dealing with all the crap I wasn't able to do the first part of the week...and re-stock my fridge and freezer because of the crap that spoiled thanks to the shitheads at the power company that couldn't get my juice on sooner.
So basically, what this all means is that there will be no new images added to my galleries this week. I'll just call this a week of downtime and a chance to recharge the creative batteries.
Look for new work next weekend.

Summertime and commissions
Summer is approaching...yay! Everything's so GREEN!
Speaking of summer, you ever try to find replacement parts for a pool pump that's 25 years old? I can tell you from experience, it ain't fun. It's never a good thing when you're vaccuming out the pool, and from the pump you hear "CRUNCH!". I walked over and took a look...the little plastic basket that collects all the crap and keeps it from going into the filter decided to explode. And it's a bitch trying to find a replacement.
Oh yeah...just in case you didn't know...I do take commissions. I know that has nothing to do with summer and pools, but such is the random nature of my thinking. The basics of commissions are as follows:
- $20 (USD), you pay all fees (and I mean ALL of them...that conversion from the beads and buttons the European folks use as currency is a bitch); payment upfront; Paypal only
- Your commission is usually finished within 2 weeks from the time I start working on it
- I can tackle just about any subject matter, save for extreme stuff and things that are just f'ing gross
- I will haggle about details to some degree, but if you want to nit-pick every tiny little detail, I'll politely tell you that I just don't have the time and will suggest someone else
- everything is negotiable and subject to change

Shitty is in the eye of the beholder
And now, we come to the "I have a bitch to share" portion of our program...
I see a post somewhere with the poster bragging about getting their artwork on another (yeah, I said "another") book cover. So, I take a look at the artwork, and my only thought is: "Seriously...someone actually paid you for this shit?"
I know they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when it comes to art, what appeals to one person doesn't always appeal to someone else. But in all honesty, a pile of dogshit is a pile of dogshit...no matter where your artistic tastes may run. So, my question is simply:
How do I get in on this?
I know my artwork isn't Boris-level quality, but I can tell that it's a hell of a lot better than some of the snot out there that people are getting paid for. I see sub-standard artists getting paid all the time (seriously, go look at some of the stuff on Deviantart that people are paying for), and I can't even get so much as a whiff of a commission.
I'd like a piece of that shitty artwork commission pie.
